GPU ID #'s can still be found via gputool --status.

  • Thanks for that.
However gputool --list takes 1 second to run and gputool --status takes 1min 3 seconds to run.
Isn't it possible to add it back to gpu --list?

  • Staff

    Hello hotmail,
We will take a look at adding the old method back in as an option for those who don't want to count lines :) Thanks!

  • Staff

GPU numbers are not given with --list as the card data presented is not in any specific order, it is the output of card detection by type. The numbers in the old output were simply a count of lines that did not map to any logical location, which added confusion.

Bus IDs are now shown in the --list output for both card types, and map to logical locations.

  • hmm - but when using gpu-config.json that requires the gpu_id - if the --list shows the bus ids then shouldn't gpu-config.json also use the bus ids?

  • Staff

gpu-config.json does now use bus IDs. Please use --config to generate a new config with IDs.

  • Support

    Hello, hotmail

Yes, you are right and the new gputool does. I'm guessing that you've still got an older gpu-config.json...

If you haven't already, run gputool --reset. This will create a backup of your gpu-config.json by renaming it gpu-config.json.old. Then it will create a new default gpu-config.json.

Run nano /root/gpu-config.json to open the editor and you will see the new format that uses PCI bus_ID's. (Reference your gpu-config.json.old to get your previous values if you don't remember them) Make the changes to the new gpu-config.json file and save your changes. Run: gputool --config and you'll be all set.

  • ok that ties together nicely... however now if i goto miner farm website i still see gpu numbers rather than bus ids - is there something else that needs to be updated for that?

  • Staff

Yes indeed - miner.farm itself. :) A complete rebuild has been in process for some months now, and we expect to have it available for you by October. We appreciate your patience during this transition.
