For some reason the 980 card won't OC like the rest of the rig. Even at +100. I had to down grade from 13 cards to 12 for power issues so i pulled two cards for my main system and swapped in the 980. Running on Ubuntu. Anyone have any ideas?

Can you attach the URL provided by the helpme command? This will give us more information on your rig overall.

  • I don't know if this would have anything to do with the OC issue. But while I was looking through the file i noticed this:

    GPU 00000000:01:00.0
    Power Readings
    Power Management : Supported
    Power Draw : 148.94 W
    Power Limit : 165.00 W
    Default Power Limit : 200.00 W
    Enforced Power Limit : 165.00 W
    Min Power Limit : 100.00 W
    Max Power Limit : 216.00 W
    Power Samples
    Duration : 2.37 sec
    Number of Samples : 119
    Max : 149.73 W
    Min : 141.71 W
    Avg : 148.46 W

    GPU 00000000:02:00.0
    Power Readings
    Power Management : Supported
    Power Draw : 129.36 W
    Power Limit : 165.00 W
    Default Power Limit : 275.00 W
    Enforced Power Limit : 165.00 W
    Min Power Limit : 150.00 W
    Max Power Limit : 300.00 W
    Power Samples
    Duration : 11.80 sec
    Number of Samples : 119
    Max : 129.47 W
    Min : 128.31 W
    Avg : 129.36 W

The 1070's are a minimum power of 100w and the 980ti is default 150w minimum but is only drawing 130w. Is there a way to change the minimum value on the card or would doing so even fix the issue?

Thanks, for letting us know. Same thing with the 980ti. Unfortunately, gputool asks the driver to set the setting, and the driver is not doing it. Newer drivers did not help. So, it may not be possible to set those particular settings for that particular GPU. We are not able to ask the GPU or the drivers to do things they are not able to do - but hopefully some of the settings do work for you. Best Wishes!

It appears 980s have limited driver support.
