Restart miner on crash
blaz.pivk last edited by
Is there a way to restart a miner instance in case the old one crashes?
I had a problem today where an instance on a miner crashed and it would be nice if it would restart itself when this happens without me watching the miners all the time and then starting it manually.
Would a cron job do and how would I do this?

This helps in finding crontab (which I already found). But I need help with the actual script.
Or would this do it?
*/5 * * * * pimp --start 1
We recently released the auto-reboot on failure function in claymore's dual and xmr-amd miners.
Hope this helps you.

Hi, is it a way to auto restart t-rex or cryptoDredge miner after crash? Thank you
Currently, no, this is not possible. I will move this to the feature requests and then once we can figure out how to determine the difference between miner stopped due to a fault vs miner stopped by user request, it maybe possible to implement. Thanks!
This has been discussed recently.. and whilst some miners do have a "watchdog" type thing that seems to work (at times), the only way is to add a crontab. The only issue there would be if you have an issue or are testing or changing something and need to stop the miner to do whatever.. the crontab command will force a restart of that miner.. so you'll have to be aware of this and when you need to stop a miner.. # the crontab out, then reboot, then do your work before un-#ing and rebooting again to continue mining as normal. I personally think that if your miner keeps stopping, there must be an issue somewhere. Rebooting or restarting the system is less annoying than the abovementioned. If you have an issue and the miner stops.. it's stopped for a reason.
