Entering the Key for the First Boot
The first boot will ask the user to enter the PiMP Key. There are two ways to input the key:
- You can type in the key manually on the first boot.
- You can use SSH to paste the key into the rig. **** MUCH BETTER ****
DocDrydenn from PiMP OS Support Team presents: How to use Windows' built in SSH to easily copy and paste your PiMP OS Key from your Order email / page to the rig:
Now you need to connect to the RIG with SSH, for that you need an SSH client.
Once you have downloaded a SSH client, launch it, set the RIG local IP. You can find it on PiMP welcome screen, as pictured below.
You then can copy/paste your key (you can find it in the e-mail PIMP team send to you or on your account here)
If you only have one rig online, you can do ssh root@pimp2 pimpkey if you do not know the IP. Also, the initial local boot screen before a key is entered will show you your IP. In the example below, we actually did a full SSH into the rig using:
and then executed the pimpkey command in the shell. Either way will work.
Once you have pasted your key, the rig will reboot, you don’t need to install anything else... the drivers, the miners… all is ready for mining :D
Once the system reboots into the verified mode, the PiMP desktop loads automatically.
PIMP is installed on your rig!
Now, you have to set up, the miner and miner farm.
For that connect to the rig with putty (in this guide we take sgminer-sg-xmr as example)
Enter the cmd line: edit sgminer.xmr.conf
You will be in the pimp conf editor. You can change your pools and your wallet and your GPU settings here. set the flags and the values you want. When you are done, then hit ctrl+X, then Y, then Enter to save and exit.
The last step, set up minerfarm, still in your ssh client type: minerfarm
Then type a to add a miner. Choose the miner you want. Once it’s done the minerfarm agent’ll ask you if you want to start the miner=>Y
If you don’t change the API keys you will be put on the free PiMP FARM found here.
If you want to use your own minerfarm account you get your keys from your account page, hit c to configure, and paste in here like pimp keys.
Well, that when the fun begins!
