run pimp without monitor? possible
-
our mining rigs are 100km far away from us. we can`t go there if one do not start. we need a solution to start up the computer via remote maintenance and start the rigs. but completely without a monitor
At the moment we are still testing the rigs, but it turns out that only the rig starts up properly and starts the monitor. all others do not drive up
-
i mean: what do i do in case of power failure
so i need a monitor again?
-
You can buy a dummy hdmi dongle that fakes a display, and just plug it in.
-or-
You can add a fake display with X.. Basicly you just need a virtual framebuffer. Lots of choices, and each has a manual you should read... but it kinda goes like this:
apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-dummy
Next configure it up by editing the
/etc/X11/xorg.conf
file, something like this:Section "Device" Identifier "Configured Video Device" Driver "dummy" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "Configured Monitor" HorizSync 31.5-48.5 VertRefresh 50-70 EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Default Screen" Monitor "Configured Monitor" Device "Configured Video Device" DefaultDepth 24 SubSection "Display" Depth 24 Modes "1024x800" EndSubSection EndSection
This creates a fake display that allows the computer to believe a head is connected, and everything should kick along as expected.
OR :) again.. you can just buy an hdmi dongle to run headless.... Plug and play!

what`s wrong?
-
Means you need to install the dependancies. I will play with it later and see if I can get a software dummy display up. Probably use the good ole virtual frame buffer as well, but we will find one and see.
Till then, the hardware suggestion still works.

You might want to start a new topic for the SIA question, to gain better notice by folks that might be mining that setup. Or try joining our Discord server.
